The Flood Warning continues for
the Alabama River at Montgomery.
* From this morning to Friday evening... or until the warning is
cancelled.
* At 2 am Thursday the stage was 32.1 feet.
* Minor flooding is forecast.
* Flood stage is 35 feet.
* Forecast... rise above flood stage by late this morning and continue
to rise to near 35.8 feet by this evening. The river will fall
below flood stage by tomorrow morning .
* Impact... at 35 feet... extensive overflow of lowlands in the area
begins.

central Alabama... including the following areas... in central
Alabama... Autauga... Bibb... Blount... Chilton... Coosa... Dallas...
Elmore... Jefferson... Lowndes... Montgomery... Perry... Shelby...
St. Clair... Talladega and Walker. In east central Alabama...
Calhoun... Chambers... Clay... Cleburne... Lee... Macon...
Randolph... Russell and Tallapoosa. In northeast Alabama...
Cherokee and Etowah. In northwest Alabama... Marion and
Winston. In southeast Alabama... Barbour... Bullock and Pike. In
west central Alabama... Fayette... Greene... Hale... Lamar...
Marengo... Pickens... Sumter and Tuscaloosa.

* Until 6 am CST Thursday

* several rounds of showers and thunderstorms are expected through
the remainder of tonight. Additional rainfall of 1 to 2 inches
is expected. The heaviest rainfall during the past 24 hours has
been in a band from Bibb County and across Shelby... Talladega...
Calhoun and Cleburne counties... where 4 to 6 inches has fallen.
Widespread flooding has occured in Shelby and Talladega
counties. Many creeks are swollen and out of their banks.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

During heavy rains... keep children away from storm drains... water
catchments... and waterways. Shallow... gently flowing water can
become a raging torrent in a matter minutes when heavy rains
occur.

A Flash Flood Watch means that conditions may develop that lead
to flash flooding. Flash flooding is a very dangerous situation.

Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize
the dangers of floods and flash floods.
