Synopsis For Massachusetts And Rhode Island Coastal Waters

Forecast as of 10:05 PM EST on January 5, 2009 - High pres will briefly build across the northeast tonight and Tue. This high pres will move NE Tue night...while a low pres from the se states heads up the coast. A coastal front will try to move across the waters Wed...with a second low pres expected to form S of New England and lift across the waters Wed night. This low pres will likely deepen into a gale center as it heads into the Maritimes Thu into Fri. Another high pres should build back into the northeast on Sat. NW winds 15 to 20 kt. Seas 2 to 3 ft.

Tue

NW winds 10 to 15 kt...diminishing to 5 to 10 kt in the late morning and afternoon. Seas 2 to 3 ft in the morning...then 1 foot or less.

Tue Night

NE winds 10 to 15 kt...increasing to 15 to 20 kt late. Seas 1 to 2 ft.

Wed

E winds 20 to 25 kt with gusts up to 30 kt...increasing to 25 to 30 kt with gusts up to 45 kt around noon...then becoming S with gusts up to 40 kt late. Seas 3 to 5 ft. Rain. Vsby 1 to 3 nm.

Wed Night

SW winds 15 to 20 kt...becoming W 25 to 30 kt. Seas 3 to 5 ft. Rain...mainly in the evening. Vsby 1 to 3 nm after midnight.

Thu

W winds 25 to 35 kt...becoming around 30 kt in the late morning and afternoon. Seas 3 to 5 ft. A chance of showers.

Thu Night

W winds 30 to 35 kt...diminishing to 25 to 30 kt after midnight. Seas 3 to 5 ft. A chance of showers in the evening.

Fri

NW winds 25 to 30 kt...diminishing to 20 to 25 kt after midnight. Seas 2 to 4 ft.

Sat

W winds 20 to 25 kt...increasing to 25 to 30 kt in the late afternoon and overnight. Seas 3 to 5 ft. A chance of snow through early evening. A chance of rain...then a chance of snow showers. Vsby 1 to 3 nm. This product is normally issued twice daily at approximately 4 am and 4 PM...and updated as conditions warrant.
