Synopsis For Massachusetts And Rhode Island Coastal Waters

Forecast as of 4:34 am EST on January 6, 2009 - High pres will briefly build across the northeast today. This high pres will move NE tonight...while a low pres from the se states heads up the coast. A coastal front will try to move across the waters Wed...with a second low pres expected to form S of New England and lift across the waters Wed night. This low pres will likely deepen into a gale center as it heads into the Maritimes Thu into Fri. Another high pres should build back into the northeast on Fri. E winds 5 to 10 kt...becoming NE 15 to 20 kt. Seas 1 foot or less. Snow likely with a chance of rain in the evening...then rain...sleet and freezing rain after midnight. Vsby 1 to 3 nm.

Wed

E winds 15 to 20 kt...increasing to 20 to 25 kt around noon...then becoming NE 10 to 15 kt late. Seas 2 to 3 ft. Rain.

Wed Night

W winds 10 to 15 kt...increasing to 20 to 25 kt late. Gusts up to 30 kt. Seas 2 to 4 ft. Rain. Vsby 1 to 3 nm after midnight.

Thu

W winds 20 to 25 kt with gusts up to 35 kt. Seas 3 to 5 ft. A chance of rain in the morning.

Thu Night

W winds 20 to 25 kt with gusts up to 30 kt. Seas 2 to 4 ft.

Fri

W winds 20 to 25 kt...increasing to 25 to 30 kt until late evening...then becoming NW 20 to 25 kt after midnight. Seas 2 to 4 ft.
